The main finding

Services were easy to find. Proof boundaries were not.

All 150 sampled firms clearly addressed the service used to find them. Qualifying proof appeared on 128 sites, and 124 explained what that evidence concerned. Only 15 proof-bearing sites stated a material limitation in the inspected evidence.

A result becomes easier to evaluate when a buyer can see its context, scope, period, attribution and what the evidence cannot promise.

Overall results

Buyer-verification evidence across the sample.

This is a query-selected convenience sample of firms already visible for service-and-location searches. The figures describe the inspected evidence; they are not market-prevalence estimates.

Independent evidence

Corroboration was usually findable, but source authority varied.

A qualifying external source was located for 136 firms. These tiers describe source provenance. They do not grade a firm or imply an endorsement.

43

Tier 1 institutional sources

Government, regulators, courts, universities, insurers and professional associations.

43

Tier 2 professional platforms

Established industry and professional platforms.

50

Tier 3 aggregators

Commercial aggregators that compile or reproduce entity information.

County comparison

Los Angeles and Orange County were broadly similar.

Both counties recorded 64 of 75 firms with qualifying proof. The differences are descriptive and do not support naming a county winner.

Methodology

A frozen rubric, balanced sample and defined quality-control pass.

The sample contains 25 firms in every sector-and-county block. The first 30 records formed a calibrated pilot. The remaining 120 received a firm-owned evidence pass, targeted rechecks, a dedicated-page search and independent-source corroboration.

  1. 01

    Fixed selection

Sixty service-and-location queries selected two additional eligible firm-owned organic results per query family.

  2. 02

    Public evidence

Visible evidence was scored against frozen definitions. A no means qualifying evidence was not found in the constrained review.

  3. 03

    Independent corroboration

One qualifying external source was recorded and assigned to a three-tier provenance scheme.

  4. 04

    Quality control

Rechecks covered every positive proof limitation, Tier 1 source, missing dedicated page and a deterministic 10% expansion sample.

What this study does—and does not—measure.

It describes public buyer-verification evidence located on October 14, 2026.

It keeps website evidence, independent corroboration and controlled AI observations separate.

It does not rank firms or assess competence, compliance, outcomes, leads, revenue or causation.

Controlled AI observations remain limited to the original 30-firm pilot.
